Brett Moore
Chief Financial Officer
Brett Moore has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the areas of finance, accounting, risk management and information systems. As an accomplished executive, he has applied a varied set of skills and analysis to provide decision support and direction to the McLane Family of companies.
Starting his career at McLane Southwest in 1983, Brett spent his initial time learning the distribution and specifically the tobacco business by having direct responsibility for over several million dollars worth of tobacco and cigarette taxes, then quickly adding additional responsibilities as Assistant Controller. In 1985 he was promoted to be the Controller for the new Food Service Division in Temple, helping to craft the internal reporting systems and participating in the management team that would grow this division to profitability within 12 months. In this position he was responsible not only for the accounting and finance areas, but also information systems.
Brett then made his next move to be the Corporate Financial Systems Manager for McLane Company, where he lead several successful projects including chart of accounts standardization, Valutech (the advanced cash disbursement systems still in use today), and Dun and Bradstreet Accounts Receivable and Human Resource systems implementation. After being promoted to Director of Corporate Systems, Brett led a team to support all accounting, human resource and eventually warehouse management systems which included maintaining end user documentation and implementation of these systems.
All this occurred during a time of rapid growth within McLane Company, going from 6 to 20 operating divisions from 1987 to 1994. This included the acquisition of the Southland Distribution Group, Southern Wholesale, McLane Foods, McLane España and McLane UK and the building of the first Wal-Mart Supercenter Distribution locations in Clarksville, AR and Temple, TX. Brett acted in a leading role in the accounting and systems teams in these critical acquisitions and start-ups.
In 1996, Brett moved to McLane Group and spent the next two years working in Spain, Poland and Portugal acting in a support role for accounting and information systems and as the CFO in Spain. During this time he participated in the restructuring of ownership for McLane España, the acquisition of ABCO – now McLane Polska and the disposition of the McLane Portugal operations to Sonae.
Returning to the US in 1998, Brett was made Corporate Controller for the McLane Group of companies, providing accounting, finance, human resource and risk management support to all Group companies.
Brett received his BBA in Accounting from Baylor University in 1980 and has completed numerous post graduate courses and training in business valuation, systems, finance and risk management. He has been married for 25 years to his wife Cindi, who is the Administrator at Waco Baptist Academy and they have two sons, Jordan, a Junior at Baylor University and Collin, a Senior at Midway High School. Brett is serving in the Deacon Fellowship for Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and recently served on the Campaign Committee for the Central Texas United Way.
