STAMIS Training Case Study
McLane Advanced Technologies Equips Over 22,000 Warfighters for Battle
STAMIS TRAINING - Project Overview
The United States Army is a key element of the United States Armed Forces that is responsible for land-based military operations. The Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS) is critical for the management of maintenance, supply, and property within the Active, Reserve and National Guard Components of the Army. STAMIS encompasses the Standard Army Maintenance System-Enhanced (SAMS-E), Standard Army Retail Supply System (SARSS), and Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE). These systems provide the Warfighters new capabilities to execute their missions with a higher level of proficiency and effectiveness. As updates to these systems develop, it is important that the Warfighters are briefed and trained on the new systems.
Challenge
While McLane Advanced Technologies was developing SAMS-E, MAT identified a real need to develop a quality training program that offers Warfighters support through practical and relevant instructional programs that include new equipment training (NET) as well as sustainment training. As updates were made to SAMS-E and other STAMIS applications, Warfighters needed a program that would enable them to seamlessly incorporate their knowledge of changes into their day-to-day operations.
Goal
To provide a quality program for Warfighters in order to obtain the necessary knowledge in NET and sustainment training for updates within the Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS) that is practical, affordable, and accessible.
Solution
In correlation with McLane Advanced Technologies’ development of SAMS-E, MAT created instructional programs for new equipment training along with advanced sustainment courses for experienced operators. To date, MAT has trained over 15,000 soldiers and civilians on various versions of SAMS-E. The program’s success led MAT to expand its STAMIS training to include the Standard Army Retail Supply System (SARSS) and Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE). In order to provide the best training in all systems, MAT subcontracts the SARSS and PBUSE training to organizations that develop each system. This ensures that all STAMIS applications are trained with parallel development efforts. MAT has a large staff of experienced Master and Senior Trainers as well as Field Service Representatives and certified computer specialists with military backgrounds in supply, maintenance and warehouse management. These core resources have earned MAT industry recognition for the utility of its software and the efficacy of its training.
Result
Once completing a training program with MAT, Warfighters leave with increased knowledge of the total functionality of the Standard Army Management System applications as well as mission requirements. Warfighters gain a “big picture” perspective of the system that leads to increased effectiveness and productivity as well as a decrease in expenses and errors.
