In the late 1800s, Drayton McLane’s grandfather, Robert McLane opened a retail grocery business that eventually transformed into wholesale distribution. MAT’s roots are within the McLane Company, which developed a methodology and approach to streamline large-scale supply chain operations and grew into one of the largest wholesale distributors in the world.
In the early 1990’s, Walmart recognized the competitive advantage gained by using our processes and technologies. By acquiring our technology, methodology and processes, Walmart expanded its distribution operations into the superstore model we see today.
MAT combines Drayton’s family history and experience with a select group of professionals from the military and private sector. MAT was created to bring a fresh commercial approach to the Department of Defense by solving critical logistics and technology problems.
